Wine Tasting

Recommendations from the Leeds Brewery wine list

Here at Leeds Brewery, we are renowned for our range of cask and keg beers, however our wine selection is also proven to be very popular. So whether you are looking for a rich, full red with a fruity aftertaste or a fresh, light white with a hint of floral, we can help suggest the glass for you.

We take great pleasure in hand picking each product that appears in our pubs and have worked closely with House of Townend, one of Yorkshire’s oldest and finest wine merchants to create a wine list that we are very proud of.

We have spent many years perfecting our wine list. Here’s our pick of the best:

Merlot, El Picador. Chile

This full and fruity style red is our house wine. The Chilean wine is a dark, dense and packed with blackberry and cherry fruit flavours with notes of mocha and dark chocolate on the finish. Served by the glass and the bottle, it’s one of our popular choices.

Shiraz, Pitch Fork. Australia

As one of the most popular wines from the region and a staple on our wine list, we fully recommend the Pitch Fork. An elegant Shiraz with complex aromas of blackcurrant, cassis and mulberry and a palate that displays good depth of fruit concentration and texture. It’s a great match for beef dishes so why not enjoy with one of our Yorkshire Dales sirloin steaks or have a glass to compliment our Yorkshire cheese board with Midnight Bell chutney, crackers and grapes.

Rioja Vega Reserva, Rioja Vega. Spain

This bright, deep red cherry coloured Rioja has intense aromas of ripe berry fruits and vanilla. As one of the higher priced wines on our menu, available only by the bottle, we would recommend this smooth, velvety palate with our steak and Midnight Bell ale pie.

Sauvignon Blanc, Kuraka. New Zealand

This clean and crisp Sauvignon Blanc filled with beautiful aromas of tropical fruit and crushed herb notes it expressive on the palate, finishing with great length. This wine is perfect as an aperitif.

Pinot Grigio, Pure. Italy

As our house white, this Pinot Grigio is very reasonably priced. It’s light, crisp and an expressive dry wine with refreshing green apple, blossom and citrus flavours. We recommend with our pan seared salmon with lemon and thyme seasoning.

Chenin Blanc, Drakensberg. South Africa

This crisp Chenin Blanc has a pleasant aftertaste, with clean and aromatic apple, pear and lemon flavours it’s light and refreshing with a fresh palate; perfect as a summer lunch companion.

Our wine list is always available at our Leeds Brewery pubs so come and enjoy a glass with us. We hope to see you soon. LB
