A new pub for the Leeds Brewery family
Located on High Petergate one of York’s historic streets and previously known as Plunkets restaurant established in 1977, is the latest Leeds Brewery pub. The 20th November saw the opening night of The Eagle and Child, welcoming friends and families to enjoy the Brewery’s favourite cask, keg and bottled beers and ales.
Just a stone’s throw from the York Minster, our latest addition is an ideal pitstop for a pint and locally sourced, traditional pub dishes. You can enjoy your favourite pub classics in the nooks and crannies of one of the 3 dining rooms across all floors of the pub. The snug is perfect to cosy up in winter and the tables by the window overlooking the street are a great place to sit and watch the world go by. The pub has kept one of the original features of the top floor bar; the signatures of The Rolling Stones in lipstick on the wall from the 60s.
The timber framed pub includes traditional gold leaf sign writing and mint green window frames that lead you into the atmospheric main room fitted with a brand new bar serving all of our staple beers and selection of guest ales. From the bar leads out to a walled beer garden where you can sit and soak up the British weather in a relaxed, secluded seating area.
Clare Walker at Leeds Brewery said: "We have space for groups large and small, with a variety of private hire options available from sit down dinners to buffets and drinks packages. If you’re looking for a venue with a difference this Christmas our second floor bar is one of York’s best private entertaining spaces."

The quirks and charm of the The Eagle and Child create a friendly atmosphere, so whether you pop in for a swift pint or a freshly cooked pub meal, you’re sure to feel very welcome. LB
