Celebrating our brilliantly British menus at the Leeds Brewery pubs
British Food Fortnight is celebrated from the 17th September-2nd October this year and is a great excuse to celebrate our pub’s British dishes.
What do our Leeds Best battered haddock and chips, 8oz Yorkshire Dales sirloin steak and steak and Midnight Bell ale pie have in common? They are all British dishes that showcase some of the best of our local suppliers. Our Leeds Brewery pubs support British farmers, fishermen and producers using only the freshest ingredients that our skilful chefs use to conquer up the classic pub food featured on our menu.
The aim of British Food Fortnight is to promote wholesome British food and homegrown goods. Established in the wake of Foot and Mouth disease, it is a flagship event that brings together food enthusiasts, projects and events across the country. Since being recognised an annual celebration, it has become a great opportunity for people (including ourselves) to promote the benefits of buying and eating locally sourced produce. Forget the microwave meals - it’s all about the fresh goods!
'Across the fortnight our pubs will be championing their brilliant local suppliers and introducing some other delicious dishes on the specials board'
Our suppliers include the Yorkshire Dales Meat Company providing their high quality meat to all of the Leeds Brewery pubs that we have built strong relationships with over the years. Cryer and Stott, the Yorkshire based cheesemongers, supply us with our speciality Hellfire ale cheddar; one of our signature foods on the menu and a great example of how we have worked together with the company to combine our expertise.
If you’re taking a break from your own cooking and are looking for some classic British comfort food then join us this fortnight for our pub dining menu and find out what specials we have to offer. LB
