November to-do List

Your round-up of things happening this month

The clocks have gone back...the winter nights are drawing in and it’s time for your round-up of what’s happening at the Leeds Brewery pubs and the city centre in November.

One for the film fanatics

This year sees the 30th anniversary of one of the largest film events in the UK; Leeds International Film Festival. The event takes place from 3rd-17th November and presents a variety of new and classic films from all around the world screened across some of the city’s favourite venues, including Leeds Town Hall, City Varieties, Everyman Leeds Trinity and Hyde Park Picture House.

There are 5 categories covering all genres of film such as documentaries, short films, fantasy films and many more. Also, keep your eyes peeled for some spectacular surprises to mark the festival’s anniversary.

It’s the ideal winter time festival...what better way to hide from the cold and cosy up watching some great films? And while you’re waiting for the next screening, pop in and see us at one of the Leeds Brewery pubs for a pint and a hearty pub meal.

Don’t forget there’s also cinema club at Crowd of Favours every Tuesday from 7pm screened in the basement. With a different theme every month, including timeless classics, comedies, adventures, horrors...there is something for everyone. There’s even free popcorn up for grabs. Follow @CrowdofFavours on Twitter to keep up to date with the latest film screenings.

One for the stout drinkers

Thursday 3rd November marks International Stout Day and we recommend joining us for a pint of Gathering Storm, our very own dark traditional stout. We have combined dark roasted malts and subtle hops to give this robust stout a rich finish; call in and see us after work to appreciate a proper Leeds pint!

One for the comic book geeks

If you're a big fan of superhero comics then The Thought Bubble Festival in Leeds is for you. An annual celebration of sequential art in all its glory, from comic books to independent artists, it’s the largest event of its kind in the UK.

The festival programme will take place from 1st-6th November involving free art and writing workshops, a two day academic conference, talks led by professionals in the industry, film screenings, competitions and more. Come and celebrate comics in style!

Gin club runs throughout the week with deals on a wide selection of single and double gins including Hendricks, Plymouth, Portobello Road, Bombay Sapphire and Tanqueray (see individual pubs) with a Fentimans tonic and garnish. Gin club is available at The Midnight Bell, The White Swan, Eagle & Child, Crowd of Favours and the Duke of York so pop in Monday-Friday after work, sit back and sip away!

One for the jazz enthusiasts

If you enjoy a bit of live jazz on a Tuesday evening then get yourself to The White Swan on the 15th November from 8pm for the Black Cygnet-Jazz & Beyond, an evening of cutting edge music curated by Matthew Bourne. Enjoy performances from Leeds College of Music students alongside some of the finest musicians on the UK scene.

Come and have a couple of drinks, soak up the talent and if you decide to make more of an evening of it you can join them for Burger Club 5-10pm for a homemade burger and a pint of Leeds Brewery beer for £13.

One for the seasonal drinkers

The winter warmers are in full flow this November at a selection of the Leeds Brewery pubs. There will be mulled wine and cider available on the bar, seasonal specials on the menu and logs burning away on the fires. Step out of the cold and settle in for the evening at The Midnight Bell from the 5th November.

Join Crowd of Favours on Bonfire Night for the launch of their winter drinks menu. They will be serving mulled cider, Baileys hot chocolate, Irish coffee and of course come December, mulled wine. Cosy up in their bar area or keep warm in the basement with a hot beverage to get you in the festive spirit.

The Lamb & Flag will also be keeping the cold away with their selection of winter warmers including mulled ciders, mulled wines and festive flavoured coffee liquors will be on offer throughout the season. Join them from the 15th November onwards.
