Things to do with your loved one this month
It’s nearly time for the most romantic day of the year so here at Leeds Brewery we have made a few suggestions of some things you can get up to with your other half on Valentine’s Day, and any other day.
Sundays are for brunch. Whether you both had a few too many tipples the night before and you need something to perk you up, or you’ve woken up feeling fresh and you want to stop off for a bite before your busy day begins, we recommend you head to the Lamb and Flag for their brand new Sunday brunch menu. Served every Sunday from 11am-1pm, you can indulge in bacon, eggs, pancakes, french toast and of course a full English breakfast, washed down with a bloody Mary. Our brunch menu is all freshly cooked on the day, so all you have to do is sit back, enjoy each other’s company and we’ll take care of the rest. What better way to spend your Sunday morning.
Take a break from an evening sitting on your sofa and binge watching the latest tv series and soak up the atmosphere watching a live show. Whether it be a classic musical, a timeless ballet, a spine tingling opera or your favourite stand up comedian it’s a great way to experience a bit of culture and spend some quality time together. There are a number of entertainment options in Leeds city centre; The Grand Theatre and Opera House, home to the Opera North productions is a beautiful architectural structure built in 1878 filled with fascinating history. If you want to pull out all the stops and make your date that little bit more special at The Grand, you can book your own private box so you are secluded from the rustling, bustling and crying children in the audience. You can also pay a visit to the West Yorkshire Playhouse - home of Northern Ballet, the City Varieties Music Hall or the Carriageworks Theatre. Wherever you decide to go, know that a Leeds Brewery pub is only a short walk away so you can always extend your date and join us for a pre theatre drink or bite to eat.
If you’re looking for the perfect date night that isn’t going to leave you with an empty wallet, we’ve got it covered here at our Leeds Brewery pubs. You can get 2 juicy steaks served with cherry tomatoes, homemade Leeds Brewery chunky chips and a bottle of wine for £30. You can choose from an 8oz rump steak, an 8oz sirloin steak or a gammon steak that are all supplied to us by the Yorkshire Dales Meat Company, a local family run business in the heart of North Yorkshire. If you’re looking for a good quality steak at a reasonable price then book a table with us today and wine and dine your other half with a romantic dinner. Steak nights are available at the Lamb and Flag, the White Swan and the Duke of York.
There is nothing more romantic that being serenaded by some smooth live jazz. If you enjoy a good live band and some cultured music then look out for jazz events happening near you. Our newest edition Eagle and Child in York has recently launched a jazz night taking place on Thursday evenings from 8pm, with various live bands playing every week so if you and your partner fancy a drink and dance then this should be right up your street. In Leeds there are regular live performances of jazz, blues, funk and soul at Smokestack music venue and just out of town in Chapel Allerton is Seven Arts hosting contemporary live jazz throughout the week.
If you’re looking for a chance to impress your partner by showing off your moves or fancy taking up a new hobby then why not drag them along for some swing lessons. Whether you start out as beginners or have a bit of dancing experience up your sleeve, it’s a great way to learn something new, have a laugh with your loved one and is also a great way to keep fit. There are multiple places in Leeds that offer all different types of dance classes such as The Dance Studio, Yorkshire Dance and Lindy Fridays which are a not-for-profit dance organisation that hold classes in Leeds city centre to learn the Lindy-Hop, an authentic form of swing dance. If you want a sexy salsa, a raunchy rumba or an elegant ballroom number, it doesn’t matter your age or ability, you can get your dancing shoes at the ready. After you’ve danced the night away and your feet can’t take anymore, pop into one of our pubs we’ll be waiting at the bar to serve you both a refreshing drink to bring an end to your evening.
It’s finally the weekend, it’s a nice day, so instead of lounging on the sofa together all weekend get yourselves out for a spot of exercise and breath in some Yorkshire air. If you want to stay local there are plenty of places to have a leisurely wander without having to venture too far. Start with the Leeds and Liverpool canal; as the longest canal in the North of England at 127 miles long passing through 91 locks you can walk for as long as you please on a scenic route with rural surroundings, remarkable heritage and boating. You can visit Harewood House, walk through the gardens and explore the 200 acres of surrounding land or stroll hand in hand through Roundhay Park to see beautiful parkland, woodland, lakes, and gardens. There is also Kirkstall Abbey with 24 hectares of beautiful grounds and gardens to ponder through and rumour has it, is one of the most popular places in Leeds for marriage proposals - it must be romantic! When you’ve reached the end of your walk you must be feeling parched and ready to refuel - we recommend our Sunday lunch menu.
